Advertiser disclosure: we have no affiliate or advertising agreements with brokers, and no click to a broker is paid. If that changes, this notice changes first. How we make money
6 brokers in our data accept Nigerian residents, and every one of them does it through an entity licensed outside Nigeria or not licensed at all (SCB, BMA, FSA Seychelles and VFSC; FXCM uses an unregulated one). SEC Nigeria registration of online forex brokers is limited, so the regulator that matters is the one behind the entity on your account.
Low Spread Brokers does not give personal investment advice.
For traders living in Nigeria who want to know which company would hold their account and who supervises it. Each card names that company; our reference records no Nigerian leverage cap, compensation scheme or complaints body for these accounts. Read first:how we rankhow we make moneyNigeria rules
None of the 6 brokers in our data serves Nigeria from a Nigerian-licensed entity, so “best” here can only mean the strongest group behind an offshore one. Pepperstone is first on our regulation score (9.0/10), but Nigerians are served by Pepperstone Markets Limited.
Read the account application for the company name, then find that company on its own regulator’s register.
Check SEC Nigeria’s warnings about unregistered investment platforms before you send money.
Treat high leverage as risk, not value: our reference records no Nigerian cap and no negative balance protection rule.

Why this order: every broker in our data that accepts residents of Nigeria, sorted by our regulation score for the brand; each serves Nigeria from an offshore or unregulated entity, so the score describes the group, not the protection on your account. Residents of Nigeria are served by Raw Trading Ltd (IC / IC Markets Global) (FSA Seychelles, offshore, licence SD018) and IC Markets Ltd (SCB, offshore, licence SIA-F214). Outside the EEA and Australia most clients are onboarded by the Seychelles entity (leverage up to 1:5000 on MetaTrader) or the Bahamas entity; these carry no UK/EU-style retail protections.

Why #6Regulation score: 7.0/10. Residents of Nigeria are served by Stratos Global LLC (FXCM Markets) (Unregulated, offshore, licence number not published). FXCM UK (Stratos Markets Limited) is selling its client book to Trade Nation, announced 6 Oct 2026 with completion expected in late November 2026; new UK accounts are opened through Trade Nation, so FXCM is not presented as open to new UK clients. ASIC issued an interim stop order on 5 Dec 2025 that stopped FXCM Australia (Stratos Trading Pty Ltd) from opening new retail CFD accounts; we have not confirmed whether it was lifted.

Is forex trading regulated in Nigeria?
SEC Nigeria and the Central Bank of Nigeria are the authorities in our reference. Neither sets retail forex rules we could record, so the table shows no cap, no compensation and no complaints body. The reference is not yet verified.
Not yet verified against the regulator: check the linked sources
Most retail forex and CFD brokers used by Nigerian residents are licensed abroad; SEC Nigeria registration of online forex brokers is limited. Check which company and regulator you would sign with.
We know of no statutory retail leverage cap, negative balance protection rule, compensation scheme or ombudsman for offshore forex in Nigeria.
SEC Nigeria publishes warnings about unregistered investment platforms.

In Nigeria the offshore regulator, not a local one, sets your protections
A UK, EU or Australian client gets a leverage cap, negative balance protection and a complaints body from the local regime. Our reference records none of these for Nigerian residents trading with offshore entities, so whatever protection exists comes from the entity’s own regulator.

Tier 2Our class for regulators such as the FSCA, SCA and SEC Nigeria

One brand, several entities
A global broker runs separate companies for different regions. Your country of residence decides which one you sign with, not the website you land on.
A licence number you can check
Each entity has a number on its regulator’s register. We print the number the broker publishes; match it on the register yourself before you deposit.
What the FCA, CySEC and ASIC rules give a retail trader
Leverage caps
FX majors: 1:30 (FCA), 1:30 (CySEC), 1:30 (ASIC); lower on riskier assets.
Negative balance protection
Required for retail clients under all three regimes in our reference.
Margin close-out
The FCA and ESMA rules close positions at 50% of required margin; ASIC’s order also sets a close-out.
Compensation
Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS): £85,000 per person per firm (investments). Investor Compensation Fund (ICF) of CIFs: €20,000 per client. Australia: no general scheme for CFD client money in our reference.
A complaints body
Financial Ombudsman Service, Financial Ombudsman of the Republic of Cyprus, Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA).
These protections apply to accounts held by entities under those regulators. The rules for Nigeria are in the section above.

Whose figure this is
Each figure belongs to a brand’s Tier 1 entity. The entity that would hold an account for a resident of Nigeria may publish a different figure or none, and no figure here is a verdict on quality.
Compensation and complaints in Nigeria
Our reference records no compensation scheme and no financial ombudsman for forex clients in Nigeria. A complaint goes to the entity that holds your account and then to its own regulator abroad.
Something went wrong?
1Complain in writing to the entity named on your account
2Escalate to that entity’s own regulator (SCB, BMA, FSA Seychelles and VFSC); an unregulated entity has no regulator to escalate to
3Check SEC Nigeria’s warnings about unregistered investment platforms
Spot a clone
Clone firms copy real broker names and licence numbers. Search the number on the regulator’s own site (sec.gov.ng and cbn.gov.ng), compare the website address, and read the regulator’s warning list before you deposit.

The entities that serve Nigerians in our data are licensed abroad or not licensed. The check is the same: find the company name on the account application and look it up on its own regulator’s register.
1Copy the company name and licence number from the account application, not from an advert
2Look the company up on its regulator’s own website
3Check SEC Nigeria’s warnings about unregistered investment platforms
4Do not fund an account whose company name differs from the one you checked
Clone sites copy the names of real offshore brokers. Compare the website address with the one the entity’s own regulator lists (SCB, BMA, FSA Seychelles and VFSC for the brokers on this page) and do not deposit if they differ.

What we don’t do
No bonuses or sign-up offers. No offshore leverage presented as a feature. No claim that we tested an account we have not opened. No personal investment advice.
Each country page has its own ranking: only brokers with a company that accepts residents, ordered by a rule chosen for that country’s regulator, leverage caps and protections.
Country rules (compensation, complaints body, leverage caps) come from our country reference, which is not yet re-verified against each regulator; the regulator’s own text prevails.
Risk warning:
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford the high risk of losing your money.
Low Spread Brokers does not give personal investment advice.
Country rules come from our reference, which is not yet verified against the regulators; broker facts are the brokers’ published terms up to 19 Oct 2026.
Our reference does not settle it. SEC Nigeria and the CBN are the authorities, SEC Nigeria registration of online forex brokers is limited, and every broker in our data serves Nigerians from an entity licensed abroad or not licensed. Ask SEC Nigeria before you rely on any platform.
Broker data collected up to 19 Oct 2026
2Does SEC Nigeria regulate forex brokers?
SEC Nigeria registration of online forex brokers is limited, per our reference, and it publishes warnings about unregistered investment platforms. None of the brokers on this page shows a Nigerian licence in our data.
Broker data collected up to 19 Oct 2026
3What leverage can Nigerian traders get?
Our reference records no Nigerian cap. The entities serving Nigeria publish, for example, TF Global Markets Int Limited: 500:1 (Standard, ThinkZero); 2500:1 (ThinkTrader account) and Raw Trading Ltd (IC / IC Markets Global): 1:5000 (MetaTrader accounts), 1:1000 (cTrader); described as dynamic. Leverage that high multiplies losses as fast as gains.
Broker data collected up to 19 Oct 2026
4What protects my money if the broker fails?
Our reference records no compensation scheme and no negative balance protection rule for Nigeria. Any protection comes from the offshore entity’s own regulator, and an unregulated entity offers none.
Broker data collected up to 19 Oct 2026
5Do I pay tax on forex profits in Nigeria?
Tax depends on your circumstances. We do not give tax advice: ask Nigeria’s federal tax authority or a tax adviser in Nigeria.
