Exness review: UK access, companies, MT5 and MT4

Exness does not open retail accounts for UK, EEA, US or Canadian residents. Its FCA company (FRN 730729) and CySEC company (licence 178/12) serve business clients only; retail clients sign up with companies in the Seychelles, Curaçao, the BVI, Kenya, South Africa or Jordan. MT4, MT5 and Exness’s own platform are offered.

    All broker reviews

Exness’s preliminary rating is 5.0/10: platforms 6.5/10, accounts 6.0/10, regulation 3.5/10 and costs not measured, because Exness publishes no EUR/USD spread in pips. Regulation scores low: every company that takes retail clients is offshore or regional. Figures come from Exness’s pages and help centre, checked 19 Oct 2026; from an EU address exness.com redirected and its retail pages were read from Wayback Machine snapshots dated January to September 2026. Quick answer

Is Exness allowed in the UK?

Not for retail clients. Exness does not accept retail clients from the UK, the EEA, the US or Canada. Its FCA and CySEC companies serve business clients only; retail accounts are opened with offshore entities (Seychelles, Curaçao, BVI) or regional ones (South Africa, Kenya, Jordan). On the FCA Firm Checker on 21 Oct 2026, Exness (UK) Ltd (FRN 730729) is authorised but shows “No permissions” for investments. A UK resident has no Exness company with FCA rules on leverage, negative balance protection and FSCS cover.

    1. FCA rules cap retail CFD leverage between 30:1 and 2:1 and close out positions at 50% of required margin. Exness (SC) Ltd sets no such cap; its published leverage reads “1:Unlimited if eligible (equity < 5,000 USD); 1:2000 by default; 1:1000 / 1:500 at higher equity”.
    2. FSCS pays up to £85,000 per eligible person per firm, and only for providers authorised by the FCA or PRA. Exness (SC) Ltd lists a Financial Commission fund of up to EUR 20,000 per client instead, a membership scheme rather than a statutory one.
    3. 81.4% of retail accounts with Exness (KE) Limited lost money (Wayback snapshot of 19 Jun 2026); no loss rate is published for the Seychelles, Curaçao or BVI companies.
    4. Platforms: MT4, MT5, the Exness Terminal web platform and the Exness Trade app; no cTrader or TradingView in our data.

    Warnings and clones

Search each Exness licence number on the regulator’s own register and compare the website address listed there with the one you are on. Clone firms copy real names and licence numbers.

    Client money

Exness (SC) Ltd lists membership of the Financial Commission, with a compensation fund of up to EUR 20,000 per client; it is a dispute-resolution body’s fund, not a government scheme like the FSCS. Our data has no compensation details for Exness B.V. or Exness (VG) Ltd. Tier 1 regulators require client money to be held apart from the firm’s own money. An offshore company may not offer the same protection, and its compensation, if any, is the broker’s own arrangement.

    Costs and fees

Exness publishes account-level “from” spreads only; pair spreads load in a script we could not read, so the table has no EUR/USD row and the costs score is not measured. The Raw Spread account charges up to USD 3.50 per lot per side on forex, depending on the instrument.

    Our verdict on Exness

    5.0/10

Exness offers MT4, MT5 and its own platform with commission-free Standard accounts, but only to clients outside the UK, the EEA, the US and Canada, through companies regulated offshore or regionally. Its regulation score of 3.5/10 reflects that: none of the companies that take retail clients is Tier 1.

    Choose it if

    • you live in Kenya and want a CMA-licensed company (licence 162, leverage up to 1:400)
    • you live outside the UK, the EEA and North America and use MT4 or MT5

    Look elsewhere if

    • you live in the UK, the EEA, the US or Canada
    • you want FSCS cover or FCA leverage limits
    • you need a published EUR/USD spread before you open an account

    Ask a question

We cannot give personal investment advice.

1Is Exness allowed in the UK?

Exness does not accept UK retail clients. Exness (UK) Ltd holds FRN 730729, checked on the FCA register on 20 Oct 2026, but serves business clients only; the FCA Firm Checker shows “No permissions” for investments. Exness’s own pages list the UK among the countries it does not accept.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

    2What is Exness UK?

Exness UK usually means Exness (UK) Ltd and its site exness.uk. It is a business-to-business company: it does not open trading accounts for individuals. Exness (VG) Ltd is also listed on that site as a business-only company.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

    3Is Exness regulated?

Its retail companies are regulated by the FSA Seychelles (Exness (SC) Ltd, licence SD025, register checked 20 Oct 2026), the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (Exness B.V., 0003LSI), the BVI FSC (Exness (VG) Ltd, SIBA/L/20/1133), CMA Kenya (licence 162, checked 20 Oct 2026), the FSCA in South Africa and the JSC in Jordan. The FSA Seychelles register shows no licence number for Exness (SC) Ltd.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

    4Does Exness offer MT5 and MT4?

Yes. Exness offers MT4, MT5 and its own Exness Terminal and Exness Trade app. A demo Standard MT5 account is created after registration. UK traders who want MT5 through an FCA company can compare Pepperstone, OANDA, IG and ThinkMarkets.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

    5What leverage does Exness offer?

Exness (SC) Ltd publishes 1:Unlimited if eligible (equity < 5,000 USD); 1:2000 by default; 1:1000 / 1:500 at higher equity; Exness (KE) Limited caps it at 1:400. Leverage for South African clients is not stated. FCA firms must limit retail CFD leverage to between 30:1 and 2:1, depending on the asset.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

6Which Exness company serves South Africa?

Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd, FSP 51024 as Exness publishes it, acts only as an intermediary; the CFDs are issued by Exness (SC) Ltd as product supplier. Check the FSP number on the FSCA register. Exness’s Jordan company publishes its JSC licence as an image, so its number (not in text) is not in our data.

Broker data checked 19 Oct 2026

    7What are Exness’s fees?

Standard, Standard Cent and Pro accounts carry no commission; Raw Spread charges up to USD 3.50 per lot per side on forex and Zero from USD 0.05. Exness publishes no EUR/USD spread in pips, and swaps are listed only in the Personal Area (checked 19 Oct 2026).
